Manchester United have started their Premier League season with style. The Red Devils beat the premier league returnees New Castle United by 3 – 0. Berbatov was included in the best 11 and he responded in style as he scored the opener in the 33rd minute. Shortly before the break Darren Fletcher doubled the lead. The third goal was scored by the evergreen veteran Ryan Giggs. In the midfield Paul Scholes kept on shining with his consistent passing and holding possessions. Newcastle started their returning game with a deep defensive approach, however, they failed to content with their tactics as Barbatov broke through. The Bulgarian striker could have scored another goal just after the half-time but he missed on to that. After the game Sir Alex Ferguson was ecstatic with the performance of his team, however he could have been more satisfied had Rooney scored a goal. Nevertheless, a win is the most important and Rooney will have his day when he will put the icing on the cake.
Fulham have started their Premier League campaign with a subdued performance. They drew their opening game against Bolton to share a point a piece. It was Bolton who dominated the game however, failing to score despite getting a number of opportunities during the play. One of the major misses was when Stuart Holden‘s shot hit the post in the 78th minute.
